Executive Director – Federation of Veterinarians of Europe

Ms Nancy De Briyne is a veterinary professional who graduated from Ghent University in Belgium. She has worked as a dedicated veterinary practitioner in both Belgium and the United Kingdom. The two main veterinary disciplines in which she has her main expertise are veterinary medicines (including AMR) and animal welfare. Ms. De Briyne possesses an in-depth understanding of the Regulation of veterinary medicines and medicated feed. From its inception, she has closely followed the new legislation and played an integral role as part of the EC-EMA-HMA coordination committee on the new Veterinary Medicines Regulation. Her knowledge and insights make her a respected authority on the subject matter. Additionally, she served as a member of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency, representing the veterinary profession for six years, from 2016 to 2022. Ms. De Briyne’s dedication to enhancing animal welfare is exemplified by her status as a diplomate of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine, specializing in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics, and Law. She is also since the foundation, an esteemed member of the EU Platform on Animal Welfare, contributing to important discussions and initiatives in this domain. She acts as Training Coordinator of the hands-on training sessions.

Head of Technical Coordination at the International Projects Department – AENOR

Mrs. Zabala is an Economist with focus on Cooperation and Development of Less Developed Countries. Since 2006, Mrs. Zabala is responsible for food safety, animal health, animal welfare and plant health within AENOR’S International Project’s Department,  , leading the relations of AENOR with DG SANTÉ, HaDEA, and technical partners. Mrs. Zabala has over 20 years of professional experience in the implementation of technical assistance projects for multi donors, particularly EU funded projects focused on quality and food safety related topics. She holds a large experience in management of training projects at European level and has been involved in previous AMR projects. She acts as Chair of the project’s Steering Committee.

Coordinator of the National Plan of Antimicrobials in Spain – AEMPS and Member of the Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP)

She has more than 30 years of expertise in the veterinary field, and 17 years of professional experience in the fields of organization, management and development of antimicrobial resistant activities. She has been involved for years in the development of National Action Plans for the reduction of the risks of antibiotic resistance in both human and veterinary medicine. Dr Muñoz holds a deep understanding of the EU approach towards AMR, including involved EU Agencies, EU guidelines and relevant legislations, data monitoring and reporting. She has solid experience coordinating the collection of data related to antimicrobial consumption at a European level. She is in charge of coordinating the ESVAC Spanish Plan for collection of data. Dr Muñoz has extensive experience working in international projects within the field of veterinary medicine and public health. She has been involved and still is in several international working groups within Codex Alimentarius, WHO or FAO. She acts as Training Coordinator of the hands-on training sessions.

Project Manager

Ms. Andrea Castro has more than seven years of professional experience in project management. She has worked in the public sector in Spain and Ecuador and has successfully led EU proposals and projects in civil society organizations. After achieving her professional objectives in Ecuador, she moved to London, U.K to study a Master’s program in Geopolitics, Territory and Security at King’s College London. She joined AENOR in 2023 to manage the AMR Hands-on Training for Farmers and Veterinarians project. Andrea is a Spanish native speaker, she speaks English fluently and limited-working French. Assistant Event Manager

Ms. Beatriz López Valero has a degree in Translation (English-French-Spanish) and has recently completed a Master’s Degree in the Production and Organization of Events and Protocol. She has two years of professional experience in the organization of national and international events in different sectors (pharmaceutical, medical, cultural, among others). She joined AENOR in 2023 to support the project management of AMR Hands-on Training to Farmers and Veterinarians project.

Senior Policy Officer – Federation of Veterinarians of Europe

She holds a degree in veterinary medicine from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and a PhD from the University of Ghent (Belgium). She has over thirteen years of experience in the management and coordination of European and international projects as well as in EU policy analysis and advocacy. She has profound expertise in policymaking concerning One Health, veterinary medicines, antimicrobial resistance and veterinary education. Ms. Iatridou has been supporting the activities of the FVE working group in veterinary medicine and has been a member of the core group of the European Platform of Responsible Use of Medicines in Animals (EPRUMA) since 2010. She regularly participates on behalf of FVE in several working groups, committees and fora discussing One Health, responsible use of medicines, antimicrobial resistance and veterinary education. Since June 2022, she has been a Member of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Management Board representing the veterinarians’ organisations. She is also an expert of the Tripartite-Technical-Advisory-Group for One Health Field-Epidemiology-Competencies. She acts as Training Coordinator of the hands-on training sessions.
